Prof. Eric Spears, Executive Director of the Center for Global Engagement of Columbus State University Visited International School

On November 5, 2024, Professor Eric Spears, Executive Director of the Center for Global Engagement at Columbus State University and Mildred Miller Fort Foundation Endowed Chair of International Education, visited the International School of Guangzhou Huali College. He was warmly welcomed by Professor Shuze Tang, Dean of the International School. The meeting was also attended by Ms. Weiwei Lai, Deputy Director of the Center for Language and Culture, Ms. Wei Xu, Secretary of Foreign Affairs, and Ms. Huixin Deng from the Academic Affairs Office.

Dean Shuze Tang provided Professor Eric Spears with an overview of Guangzhou Huali College, highlighting key aspects such as the campus size, architectural style, facilities, student dormitories, faculty and student population, academic focus, educational achievements, and international collaborations. He emphasized that all eight majors offered by the International School are taught entirely in English, making it the only private undergraduate institution in China to do so. The International School is proud of its diverse and international teaching staff.

 

Dean Shuze Tang also mentioned that on December 30, 2022, the college was approved by the China Education Association for International Exchange (CEAIE) to join the Sino-American CHEPD 121 Dual-Degree Program. Among the 133 participating institutions in mainland China, 131 are public universities, and only 2 are private undergraduate institutions, with Guangzhou Huali College being one of them.dd3a63c025aae9997a87a8f63a35ba0

Dr. Spears was impressed by the campus and its distinctive full-English teaching platform. He provided a brief introduction to the features and strengths of Columbus State University and expressed his hope for future collaboration with Guangzhou Huali College.
