IS Representatives Paid a Visit to threeThai Universities

From November 15th to 19th, 2023, as delegate of the Guangdong Association of Private Universities, representing the International School, Professor Shuze Tang and Dr. Wenzhen Mai visited Thai universities, including the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT)Dhurakij Pundit University (DPU) and Srinakharinwirot University (SWU).

During the visit to AIT, Dr. Anat Arbhabirama, the Board Chairman, and Professor Kazuo Yamamoto, president of the University, welcomed the delegation, discussing the institution's background, partnerships with Chinese universities, and forthcoming global cooperation initiatives. This encounter lays the groundwork for enhanced educational ties and fosters continued collaboration between the two nations.

At Dhurakij Pundit University (DPU), Dr. Pattanant Petchchedchoo, the university President, and Dr. Xiang You, the Director of Chinese International College (CIC), discussed the university's background, growth, and partnerships with Chinese universities. DPU is a prominent private university in Thailand with a diverse student body, particularly stands out in economic and trade education, as well as excelling in humanities, social sciences, and management sciences.

After visiting AIT and DPU, Professor Tang convened with faculty members at Srinakharinwirot University (SWU), where he was a guest lecturer. During this meeting, he also met with Professor Sethasilp Ammawath, the former President of Rajamangala University of Technology at Lampang, who is also a distinguished professor and doctor.

Appendix-Introduction of visited universities

 

Asian Institute of Technology (AIT), wasestablished in 1957 with initiatives from countries like the United States, Australia, France, New Zealand, and the United Kingdom, and funded by the Philippines, Thailand, and Pakistan, formally founded in 1959 under a royal decree signed by King Bhumibol of Thailand. It is a graduate school primarily focused on engineering with additional disciplines in management. AIT has nurtured over 25,000 alumni spanning 100+ countries, currently hosting 1,400+ students from 40+ nations. The institution comprises three colleges (Engineering and Technology, Environment, Resources, and Development, Management) offering over 40 postgraduate programs, all conducted in English.

 

Dhurakij Pundit University (DPU), founded in 1968, is a private university situated on Petchakasem Road in Bangkok. It primarily specializes in economics, business, and related disciplines. DPU consists of 14 faculties, 7 research institutes, offering 60 undergraduate programs, 19 master's degree disciplines, and 6 doctoral programs. The university accommodates over 30,000 students, including more than 5,000 international students from China.

 

Srinkharinwirot University, founded in 1949. “Education is growth” is the equivalent of Balinese “Sikkha Wirun Sum Patta”. The five growth respects are: Growth of faith: trust in life, roles and one’s own duty. Growth of sacred precepts: ethics and goodness. Growth of attentiveness: thoughtfulness and continuous learning.Growth of abandonment: generosity and kindness to others. Growth of wisdom: living, thinking, and doing with intellect.

Value: The academic life of a scholar is like that of philosopher who follows the practice of Dhamma and is worthy of being an intellectual leader.

Vision: Srinkharinwirot University is one of the leading research and learning organizations on a basis of virtue and education oriented to international innovation and creativity.

To create quality, beneficial and sustainable research and innovation for national and international society. To provide services with quality, awareness, and accountability for society.
