International School Hosted an Academic Lecture on The American Education System: Studying in the U.S.A
On the evening of June 11, 2024, International School hosted an academic lecture titled “The American Education System: Studying in the U.S.A” in the International Conference Hall of the School. The keynote address was delivered by Professor Larry Tung, a visiting professor from Hofstra University in the United States with expertise in journalism. Over 80 students from International Journalism, Network and New Media, and other disciplines, along with several faculty members, were present at the lecture. The event was chaired by Professor Shuze Tang, the Dean of the International School.

Professor Larry Tung first shared his personal experience of studying in the United States, providing students with a more direct understanding of studying abroad in the United States. Following that, he introduced the various stages of higher education in the United States, including undergraduate and graduate levels, and illustrated the classification of various majors and the characteristics of different academic systems. Professor Larry Tung also specifically mentioned the costs and duration of study, offering practical reference information for students interested in studying abroad.
While discussing internship and job opportunities, Professor Larry Tung emphasized that there are abundant opportunities within the United States for international students. He encouraged students to pursue further education actively and bravely apply to their desired schools to broaden their academic and career prospects.
Additionally, Professor Larry Tung shared his own experience and methods as a native Chinese speaker on how to improve English proficiency. He underscored the importance of language learning and provided practical study tips and advice to the students.

Professor Larry Tung answered each question with patience and even brought thoughtful small gifts for everyone. The environment was friendly and laid-back, with both students and teachers appreciating that Professor Larry Tung’s seminar was both useful and captivating.
