On the morning of April 26, 2024, Professor Jiesheng Liu, President of Guangzhou Huali College, accompanied by the college's leadership team, paid a return visit to the China Affairs Office of Kyungsung University in Dalian. Professor Choi Seungjin, Director of the Office, and Mr. Tianxing Shao, Head of External Affairs, warmly welcomed President Liu and his delegation. Accompanying President Liu were Professor Shuze Tang, Dean of the International School, Dr. Qingqing Zhou, Vice Dean, and Ms. Wei Xu, Student Advisor and Foreign Affairs Officer.

Director Choi Seungjin warmly received President Jiesheng Liu and his delegation in his reception room. During the meeting, President Liu fondly recalled Director Choi's special visit to Guangzhou Huali College on April 7, 2023. He expressed gratitude for Director Choi's selfless dedication and the achievements in promoting exchanges and cooperation between the two institutions. Since the cooperation agreement was signed by the presidents of both universities just over a year ago, the China Affairs Office has sent two groups of 13 tuition-free exchange students from Guangzhou Huali College to Kyungsung University for one semester each, as well as 10 students to Keimyung University for short-term study visits. Additionally, the office facilitated the establishment of cooperative relationships and agreements with Keimyung University, Chung-Ang University, and Pukyong National University.

Upon their return, students who studied in South Korea expressed their gratitude for the exchange and visit programs initiated by Director Choi, and they hoped for more similar projects in the future to provide opportunities for mutual exchange and learning, thereby broadening international perspectives. President Liu stated that this visit to Dalian, accompanied by the International School leadership, aimed to pay a return visit to Director Choi and thanked him for his contributions to the cooperation between the two institutions and the friendship between China and South Korea. Additionally, they sought to explore potential projects for further deepening cooperation between the two universities. President Liu expressed a desire to strengthen collaboration with Korean universities in the joint training of graduate students and supervisors, enhancing the level and quality of cooperation. The school will continue to fully support the International School in expanding cooperation and implementing signed projects.

Director Choi Seungjin expressed his gratitude to President Liu for the warm reception at Huali College last year and appreciated President Liu and his delegation's effort in traveling to the China Affairs Office of Kyungsung University in Dalian to provide guidance. Director Choi gave a detailed introduction of the responsibilities and functions of the China Affairs Office, highlighting that it not only represents Kyungsung University but also handles affairs for other Korean universities due to its excellent reputation and successful cases in Chinese-Korean educational cooperation.

Director Choi expressed his eagerness to utilize this unique connection to promote Huali College among Korean universities, with the goal of introducing more distinguished and reputable partner institutions. He also welcomed President Liu's request to recommend more prestigious universities for graduate admissions and showed enthusiasm for collaborating on the joint training of graduate students and supervisors.

Introduction of Kyungsung University

Kyungsung University (경성대학교), founded in 1955, is located in Busan, the second-largest city in South Korea. The university is conveniently situated with the Kyungsung University subway station on line 2 right at its entrance. It comprises 9 colleges and 7 departments, offering 55 majors. The university has 12,255 undergraduate students and 1,562 international students. Kyungsung University, a well-known private comprehensive university in South Korea, holds master's and doctoral degree-granting rights. It ranks 501st in the Asian university rankings and 69th among 179 universities in South Korea. Guangzhou Huali College has sent two groups of a total of 13 students to study at Kyungsung University on a tuition-free exchange basis in February 2023 and February 2024.

The China Affairs Office in Dalian is Kyungsung University's only office in China, representing the university in establishing and implementing cooperation projects in China. The office is also authorized by several other Korean universities to handle educational cooperation affairs in China.
