New Chapter for International Cooperation— Guangzhou Huali College and Lincoln University College Establish Joint Training Base for Master’s and PhD Students

On November 14, 2024, the inauguration ceremony for the "Guangzhou Huali College and Lincoln University College Joint Training Base for Master’s and PhD Students" (referred to as the "Joint Training Base") was held at Guangzhou Huali College. Professor Jiesheng Liu, President of Guangzhou Huali College, and Professor Amiya Bhaumik, President of Lincoln University College, jointly unveiled the plaque for the new base. This event marks a significant milestone in international cooperation and the beginning of a new chapter in the collaborative development of high-level talent.

        Following the unveiling ceremony, faculty members and students gathered in the 205 Academic Report Hall for the first meeting hosted by the "Joint Training Base." Professor Edmund Kof, Vice President of Lincoln University College and Dean of the Malaysia-China "Belt and Road" Research Institute, along with Liny Huang, the institute's consultant, and Keishor Gaire, Assistant to the President, joined President Amiya Bhaumik at the event

        Professor Jiesheng Liu, along with Youhong Li, Head of the Research Office; Jianping Dai, Dean of the School of Media and Art Design; Shuze Tang, Dean of the International School; Yihong He, Dean of the School of Mechanical Engineering; Rongshou Cai, Dean of the School of Foreign Languages; Peixi Wang, Dean of the School of Pharmacy; and more than 120 representatives from various colleges and faculties, attended the "Joint Training Base" meeting. The meeting was hosted by Teacher Minying Tan from the International School.

        At the meeting, President Jiesheng Liu read the official document establishing the "Joint Training Base" and delivered an address. President Liu congratulated all those involved on the formal establishment of the joint training base and expressed his gratitude to President Amiya Bhaumik for leading a delegation from Malaysia to attend the event. He also thanked the leadership and teaching teams from both institutions who had contributed to the creation of the "Joint Training Base." President Liu expressed his anticipation for the development of this unique initiative among private undergraduate institutions, emphasizing that by leveraging the strengths of both sides, the base would help advance high-quality international education at Guangzhou Huali College and yield positive results in cultivating high-level talent.

        In his speech, President Amiya Bhaumik delivered an enthusiastic address, stating, "Today is a memorable day for Lincoln University College. We have gained a sincere partner in China and now have our own base at Huali—our own home." President Amiya extended special thanks to Mr. Zhifeng Zhang, the Chairman, and President Jiesheng Liu for their strong support of international cooperation between the two universities. He also proudly announced that Lincoln University College had risen to 185th place in the 2025 QS World University Rankings. President Amiya assured that Lincoln University College would fully support the construction and development of the "Joint Training Base," and expressed confidence that soon, more faculty and students from Guangzhou Huali College would be seen on the campus of Lincoln University College.

        On behalf of both presidents, Professor Shuze Tang, Dean of the International School, presented a report at the meeting outlining the regulations for the "Joint Training Base" and introduced the list of the first batch of eight doctoral supervisors selected for the program. Following this, President Amiya Bhaumik formally presented appointment letters to the representatives of the first batch of doctoral supervisors chosen for the "Joint Training Base."

        The unveiling of the "Joint Training Base" marks the beginning of a new chapter in the international cooperation between Guangzhou Huali College and Lincoln University College. Under the regulations of the "Joint Training Base," both institutions will collaborate comprehensively across a range of areas, including joint training of Master’s and doctoral students, undergraduate exchanges, faculty exchanges, scientific research cooperation, joint research on "Belt and Road" initiatives, and the co-hosting of international conferences.
