On December 3, the International School organized an English-medium –instruction (EMI) lecture titled "International Business and Trade Cooperation: Operational Model of a Business House" in Academic Hall 4-205. The keynote speaker was Bekar Mikaberidze, President of the Guangdong Chamber of Commerce in Georgia and the Founder of the Georgian Belt and Road Business Pavilion, a non-governmental organization. The event was attended by Professor Shuze Tang, Dean of the International School, along with faculty members and students from the Classes of 2023 and 2024.

Professor Shuze Tang chaired the lecture

Drawing on over 20 years of experience living in China, Bekar Mikaberidze provided profound insights into the operational models of multinational chambers of commerce and the essential components of international business cooperation.

He reflected on the challenges and successes of his entrepreneurial journey, highlighting the significance of building cross-border business networks through collaboration and strong connections. Sharing his personal philosophy, he remarked, “When you are alone, you are always on your own. But if you are with partners, you share strength and multiply success.”

During the lecture, Bekar Mikaberidze discussed how the Belt and Road Initiative promotes friendly relations and economic exchanges among participating countries. He emphasized that “Connection” is the key to unlocking international markets, supported by logistics, tourism, culinary culture, and the development of exhibition halls, all of which play vital roles in forging these connections. He encouraged students to “Keep your chance for tomorrow” by making the most of today’s opportunities to pave the way for future success.

During the Q & A session, students actively engaged, fostering a dynamic and lively atmosphere. Dean ShuzeTang initiated the discussion by asking in English, “What was the biggest challenge you faced in founding multiple businesses, and what advice do you have for the younger generation?” Bekar Mikaberidze candidly shared that self-belief was his greatest challenge. “Not all businesses will succeed, but if you keep telling yourself you can and truly believe in yourself, you will eventually succeed,” he explained. He urged young people to identify their core strengths and consider ways to stand out in a competitive market.

Business teacher Mr. Zhaoping Li posed a question on behalf of the students: “For those interested in e-commerce and international trade, what Georgian products are suitable for e-commerce platforms?” Bekar Mikaberidze emphasized the importance of capturing “Attention” on social platforms to uncover business opportunities. When asked about key factors for early-stage entrepreneurship, he advised students to define their roles clearly—whether to lead as entrepreneurs or join established companies to gain valuable experience. “Schools teach us how to learn, but the real business world demands hands-on experience,” he noted.

Bekar Mikaberidze also shared his reasons for choosing China as the foundation for his business ventures. Inspired by his father’s career in acupuncture, he initially came to China and was captivated by its rich culture. He highlighted China’s safety and its equal business opportunities for foreigners, describing it as an ideal place to turn dreams into reality.

The lecture concluded with enthusiastic questions from students and a round of applause. In his closing remarks, Dean Shuze Tang underscored the importance of “Friendship,” a key theme in Bekar Mikaberidze’s talk. He encouraged students to make full use of the International College’s English-language platform and to value the unique opportunity to engage with entrepreneurs. This interaction not only provided practical business insights but also fostered international cultural exchange, inspiring students to explore their potential and embrace the opportunities offered by the current era and nation. The lecture expanded students’ understanding of international business cooperation and sparked reflections on their future career paths.
